Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the exam!
You have 30 minutes to write a semi-formal letter. You choose between two tasks: Aufgabe A (Request for Information) or Aufgabe B (Complaint Letter). Both require you to write at least 150 words addressing specific points.
Aufgabe A asks you to write a formal letter requesting information (e.g., about insurance, services). Aufgabe B requires writing a complaint letter about a disappointing experience. You must choose one task and address either 3 given points OR 2 given points plus one of your own choice.
Your letter needs: a suitable subject line (Betreff), appropriate greeting (Anrede), clear introduction, body paragraphs covering the required points, and a formal closing (Schluss). Use formal language with "Sie" throughout.
Practice writing formal letters with proper structure. Learn useful phrases for requests ("Ich möchte Sie bitten..."), complaints ("Leider muss ich Ihnen mitteilen..."), and formal closings ("Mit freundlichen Grüßen"). Time yourself to complete within 30 minutes.
