Everything you need to know about the exam!
The TELC B2 Hörverstehen (Listening) module takes approximately 20 minutes and consists of three parts with 20 questions total. Teil 3 (Informationen verstehen) has 5 true/false questions testing understanding of specific information.
You will hear various audio types including news reports, radio interviews, conversations, presentations, and announcements. The topics cover everyday situations, current affairs, and general interest subjects at B2 level. The audio is played once for most parts, so careful listening is essential.
Teil 1 (Globalverstehen) tests your ability to understand the main idea and overall message of a longer text. Teil 2 (Detailverstehen) requires you to catch specific details, opinions, and arguments from a radio interview or conversation. Teil 3 (Informationen verstehen) focuses on understanding specific information from a presentation or announcement.
Practice with authentic German audio materials like podcasts, radio interviews, news reports, and documentaries. Focus on understanding both main ideas and specific details. Train yourself to recognize whether statements match what was said (richtig) or contradict it (falsch). Since audio is typically played only once, practice concentrated listening without replaying.
