Goethe C1 Listening: evaluate a statement precisely
The statement and relevant transcript excerpt come from practice set 1. The complete interview and remaining tasks are available in the exercise.
Transcript excerpt

Show answer and explanation

Everything you need to know about the exam!
The modular Goethe-Zertifikat C1 Hören module lasts about 40 minutes and has four parts with 30 scored items. Teil 1 has 6 statements assigned to three works, Teil 2 has 9 true/false/not-mentioned statements, Teil 3 has 8 multiple-choice items across four discussion sections, and Teil 4 has 7 multiple-choice items on a lecture.
Teil 1 is played once. Teil 2 is played twice. In Teil 3, each of the four discussion sections is played once. Teil 4 is played twice. Before listening, you receive time to read the relevant tasks.
Choose “stimmt nicht” when the interview explicitly contradicts the statement. Choose “dazu wird nichts gesagt” only when the interview neither confirms nor contradicts the decisive detail. A related topic or a plausible inference is not enough.
The tasks test sustained listening, paraphrase, scope, chronology, cause and consequence, qualifications, corrections, speaker ownership, and implied relationships. Strong preparation focuses on the speaker’s precise commitment rather than matching isolated words.
