The Goethe B2 Lesen (Reading) module takes 65 minutes and consists of five parts with 30 items total: Teil 1 has 9 items (matching 4 texts), Teil 2 has 6 items (matching 6 texts), Teil 3 has 6 items (3-option Multiple Choice), Teil 4 has 6 items (matching 8 texts), and Teil 5 has 3 items (matching 3 paragraphs). You can start with any task. Each task has only one correct answer.
Teil 1 tests understanding attitudes and opinions (Einstellungen/Haltungen verstehen). Teil 2 and Teil 3 test understanding information (Informationen verstehen). Teil 4 tests understanding viewpoints (Standpunkte verstehen). Teil 5 tests understanding rules and instructions (Regeln/Instruktionen verstehen).
Most parts use Zuordnung (Matching): Teil 1 matches to 4 texts, Teil 2 to 6 texts, Teil 4 to 8 texts, and Teil 5 to 3 paragraphs. Only Teil 3 uses Wahl (3-gliedrig MC) - Multiple Choice with 3 options. Each task has only one correct answer.
Only answers on the answer sheet (Antwortbogen) are graded. Write with a blue or black pen. No aids such as dictionaries, phones, or mobile devices are allowed. You can start with any task and work in any order within the 65 minutes.
