Better partner matches
A reliable practice partner does not have to be a native speaker. Look for someone whose German level, learning goal and weekly availability are close to yours.
Choose a partner who can follow the same topics without either person feeling left behind.
Say whether you want everyday conversation, fluency, pronunciation or exam speaking practice.
Agree on a realistic day, time and format such as messages, voice notes or a short call.

German partner finder FAQ
A German language partner is someone you practise German with regularly through messages, voice notes or calls. The partners in these groups are fellow learners and are not necessarily native speakers or teachers.
Choose the WhatsApp group for your current level, introduce your goals and availability, and reply to a learner whose level and schedule fit yours. Premium level groups require admin approval.
Choose the level where you can follow a conversation and contribute comfortably: A1, A2, B1, B2 or C1. Choose DTZ if you want speaking practice related to the Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer at A2–B1 level.
The A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and DTZ partner groups are exclusively for learners with an active Premium membership. Admin approval helps keep every group relevant and focused on serious German learners.
Not exactly. A traditional Tandem normally pairs speakers who teach each other their native languages. These groups help German learners at a similar level find partners for German conversation and exam speaking practice.
Keep conversations helpful and respectful. Remember that everyone in a WhatsApp group can see the phone numbers of other members.
